Backyard landscaping help? - small backyard landscaping

We moved into the house last summer and now that warm weather comes, I want some time to focus the backyard again look better. It's small (16.5 "W 39.5" L, and) a large terrace. I have no idea what to do with him hope, and that some of you may have design ideas. I will put new obstacles (I leaned over the fence of bamboo: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ...). I also have a few flowers (I live in Fortaleza Zone 6 if that helps with suggestions floral) and possibly a small pond, or perhaps even a drop of pond water (less the back into a corner) would be near the garage.
